3-D surface reconstruction of grinding wheel topography based on depth from focus

A method for reconstruction of grinding wheel 3-D topography is presented.Microscope has the feature of limited depth of focus,which makes some area of image in one view blurred.Through gathering a series of image in different focus for one site,these images are merged and compared by the focus evaluation function,and then the information of depth is extracted and the three dimensional topography of grinding wheel is constructed by Gaussian Interpolation algorithm.The height distribution of(abrasive) grits is gained by using the data of 3-D topography.
