A New Productivity Formula for 3D Steady State Solution of a Horizontal Well in a Reservoir with Bottom Water Drive

A 3D steady state velocity potential distribution in a horizontal well of unbounded reservoir is derived The imaging and superposition principles are applied to derive 3D steady state potential distribution in a horizontal well from a bottom water drive reservoir A new formula for calculating horizontal well productivity is developed The effects of the horizontal well position relative to water oil contact and permeability anisotropy,etc on productivity are considered A modified factor of flow resistance is introduced into the formula It makes the formula more simple and practical An example of calculation shows that the new formula derived from 3D models is more strict than those from 2D models and its results agree well with practical data
