The Effect of Intern on Career Self- efficacy and Professional Commitment of Medical Students

Objective To reveal the differences of career self-efficacy and professional commitment between the intern medical students and non-intern medical students,and provide a theoretical basis for the management of trainee medical students and strengthen the humanism education of medical students. Methods We extracted 210 medical students in a medical university using the cluster random sampling method and then took a measurement in the synthetic questionnaire. Results the level of career self-efficacy( 71. 14 ±8. 95; 67. 83 ± 10. 50) and professional commitment( 91. 63 ± 14. 26; 88. 85 ± 17. 21) of medical students and intern medical students were at a high level; The level of self-efficacy between intern medical students and medical students had not statistically significant difference( P 0. 05); There were significant differences in professional commitments score( F = 4. 91,P 0. 05),the ideal commitment dimension( F = 7. 10,P 0. 05) and normative commitment dimension( F = 11. 33,P 0. 05) between intern medical students and medical students. Conclusion The professional recognition of intern medical students is declined. The intern process impacts the psychological reaction of medical students,which has a potential adverse impact on the career development of medical students and medical development.
