Effects of panaxadiol saponins on the learning memory of mice and on the contents of Cu,Zn and Mn in their blood

Du Peishuang,Ren Kuang,Shen Nan, et al Air Force Medical College,Jilin City, 132013
The effects of panaxadiol saponins(PDS) on the learning memory of mice and on the contents of Cu, Zn and Mn in their whole blood were studied by step down test and FAAS. The results showed that the mice of the experimental groups made fewer mistakes (P 0.01) and their step-down latency was longer(P 0.01) than the mice of the control group. The content of Cu in each experimental group was higher than that in the control group, there was no change in the Zn content and the Mn content increased as the doasage increased. It is suggested that PDS has the effect on improving the learning memory of mice, which may have something to do with the increase of the Cu and Mn contents.
