MORPHOLOGICAL CHANGES OF DENDRITES IN THE SOMA OF REGENERATIVE MOTOR AXON AFTER PERINEURAL SUTURE OF SCIATIC NERVE IN RAT

Xu Jiajun, Huang Ying (Department of Anatomy, Second Military Medical University, Shanghai 200433)
Four or nine weeks after the sciatic nerve in the rat was sectioned and reconnected withperineural suture HRP was used to label the spinal cord anterior horn cells of the peroneal nerve. The diameter of the labeled soma and the diameter and the number of its first-order dendriteswere then measured microscopically with an eyepiece micrometer. The dendritic morphology waspartly restored to normal 4 weeks after neurorrhaphy and almost entirely restored to normal 9weeks after neurorrhaphy. The restoration of dendritic morphology in the somatotopy-restoredsoma was superior to that in the somatotopy-abnormal soma.
