Effects of Phase Contents on Properties of ZrO_2 Ceramics

The effects of Y\-2O\-3 contents on phase contents and properties of ZrO\-2 ceramics were studied. The causes of properties' change and shortage of traditional thermal shock resistance theory were studied accordingly, and the formula of thermal shock resistance under the rapid heating (cooling) condition were also predigested. The results show that the best thermal\|shock resistance, mechanical properties, and the largest string expansion coefficient of ZrO\-2 when the pressureless sintering condition were 1580℃×1h can be obtained separately when Y\-2O\-3 contents were 2.5%mol, 3.0%mol and 3.5%mol. For the same material with different phases under rapid heating (cooling) condition, the thermal\|shock resistance can be simply related with bending strength and string expansion coefficient.
