Effect of intercritical annealing on microstructure and performance of hot-rolled medium manganese steel plate

Microstructure and performance of hot-rolled medium manganese steel plate after annealing at different temperatures for different time were studied by means of SEM,TEM and EBSD technique.The results show that the annealing temperature and annealing time have important influence on plasticity and strength of the medium manganese steel.The plasticity is best after annealing at 680 ℃ for 10 h and that the annealing time longer the plasticity better.The microstructure consists of ferrite and retained austenite in the steel after annealing at different temperatures.A large amount of thin film retained austenite at the grain boundaries is detected by EBSD technique.The thin film retained austenite effectively improves the elongation rate of the steel by TRIP effect.
