Study of Localization Schemes for Wireless Sensor Networks

It is necessary for the nodes in a wireless sensor network to know their own physical locations.Because of constraints in size,form factor,and cost of construction of sensor nodes,it is impractical to use traditional GPS receiver at each sensor node.A localization scheme ,which can use connection of senor nodes to estimate the location of nodes,is presented.This scheme requires a small percentage of sensor nodes whose location is known.Other nodes calculate their position based on the beacon locations and the hop-counts from the beacon nodes.The simulation results show that the localization scheme is practical.
