Calculation of vibration equation and analysis of seismic response for damping energy dissipation frame structure

The calculation of vibration equation and analysis of seismic response for damping energy dissipation frame structure are studied.In this vibration equation,the damping matrix is not orthogonal to vibration mode.The direct integration of state equation method was adopted to solve the vibration equation of damping energy dissipation frame structure,and compared with the forced decoupling method.The results show that the forced decoupling method has smaller deviation on the first order vibration response from that of the direct integration of state equation method,but larger deviation on higher order vibration response.Furthermore,the forced decoupling method overestimate the damping effect of the dampers.Then,the seismic response of frame structures with viscous damper have been analyzed according to the direct integration of state equation method,and the influence of damper position on seismic response is investigated.The results indicate the damping effect may be obvious on the storey with dampers;but much different on the storey without dampers,sometimes the storey drifts even increase.Therefore,dampers in structure should be designed reasonably.
