Rough machining method for blisk plunge milling

To enhance the efficiency in blisk rough machining,a new plunge milling method via least-square method was put forward.The calculation process and derivation of key cutter locations and tool-path were presented.Fur-thermore,the cutting force mathematical model was established based on the cutting force coefficient identification experiments.And the maximum cutting force of the plunge milling was compared to that of the flank milling from the perspective of similar cutting parameters.Finally,through the numerical simulation of blisk rough machining and application in 5-axis Computer Numerical Control(CNC)machining,the feasibility and efficiency improvement of the proposed plunge milling method were verified.The result showed that the maximum radial cutting force was re-duced by more than 50percent and the efficiency of this method was almost doubled.
