An Access Control and Bandwidth Allocation Policy Based on Priority in VoD Systems

Considering the different requirements on the video quality of service from the different clients in VoD systems , we present an access control and dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme. The access control, taking the priority of the request and the bandwidth used by the stream into account, can allocate the high-level priority requests more bandwidth and serve more video streams. Otherwise, according to the priority and the network condition, the server adjusts the bandwidth of every request dynamically so as to reduce the package loss rate and to provide high-level priority requests better video quality of service.
