The Description Logic of Tasks: From Theory to Practice

The logic of tasks is immune to two major problems most planning logics face: The frame problem and the knowledge preconditions problem.However,previous logic of tasks which supplemented the classical first order predicate logic with the additional operators п and П has two drawbacks.One of them is that it is not decidable and the other is that all the task knowledge in it has to be defined on an abstract logic level so it can not describe the concrete attributes of tasks.This paper presents the description logic of tasks that can describe the concrete attributes of tasks and is decidable by integrating knowledge representation formalism used in description logic into the task language. A formal system L(S,A) which is decidable,sound and complete is proposed.Lastly,as the example of application an organization model and a framework based on the description logic of tasks for multi-agent system specification are provided.
