Advance in Research of Biological Metallurgy of Sulfide Ore

A comprehensive review of biological metallurgy of sulfide ore is made, including the microbial kinds and their culturing conditions, the bioleaching mechanism, the bacterial oxidation system of ferrous iron and sulfur, the bioleaching techniques, the main factors influencing the bioleaching effect and the molecular biology of the bacterium. The status of industrial application of biological metallurgy both in and outside China is described and the main problems needing to be solved in China′s biological metallurgy are pointed out.
