Arsenic-tolerant Mutation of Thiobacillus Ferrooxidans and Its Application in Leaching of High Arsenic-Containing Copper Concentrate

To raise the arsenic-tolerant ability of thiobacillus ferrooxidans in the copper leaching process,ultraviolet ray arsenic-tolerant mutation was made on the medium temperature thiobacillus ferrooxidans acclimated by high arsenic copper concentrate.The isolated medium temperature thiobacillus ferrooxidans had an arsenic-tolerant ability of 8.0 g/L while the unmutated thiobacillus ferrooxidans could only grow and reproduce in an environment with As~(3+) content of only below(1.0) g/L.The arsenic-tolerant mutant was used in the copper bio-leaching of high arsenic-containing copper concentrate with an As content of 3% ~ 8%.The results showed that the better bio-leaching effect could be achieved at a concentrate particle size of-250 mesh,pulp density of 10% ~15% and an arsenic content of not more than 5%.The copper leaching rate could be over 77% and the addition of Ag~+ and the removal of the flotation reagent could intensify the bio-leaching effect in various degrees.
