Effect of Molybdenum Content on Structure and Properties of WC-8(Fe-Co-Ni) Cemented Carbide

The effect of Molybdenum content on microstructure and properties of WC-8( Fe-Co-Ni)cemented carbide prepared by traditional power metallurgy process was investigated. The microstructure and fracture morphology was analyzed using OM and SEM,the hardness,relative density and the bending strength of cemented carbides was studied with micro-hardness tester,electronic balance and universal testing machine. The experimental results show that the addition of Mo can decrease the solubility of WC in liquid phase and the grain is refined,the hardness of cemented carbides is improved obviously; Due to the solid solution strengthening effect of Mo,the bending strength of the alloy is improved. When Mo content is 5%,the comprehensive properties of hard alloy are the best.
