Analysis of Regional Cotton-rice and Cotton-other Crop Rotation Level by Satellite Remote Sensing

In this study,cotton-rice rotation(CRR),cotton-other crop rotation(COCR) and cotton-all crop rotation(CACR) level in Xinghua City of Jiangsu Province were analyzed under field conditions.According to the statistics model for evaluating crop-mix rotation level based on satellite remote sensing,two Landsat Thematic Mapper(TM) satellite images dated on July 26,2001 and July 29,2002 were selected as the image data for the interpretation of cotton and other crops in Xinghua.The results showed that the period of CRR,COCR and CACR was 2.09 years,3.38 years and 1.24 years,respectively,and their standard deviation was 0.209 5,0.566 0 and 0.015 6,respectively.These results suggested that the cotton cultivation model of hybrid rotation of CRR and COCR is better than that of single CRR or COCR.These researches provide a scientific-based tool for estimation of hybrid rotation level and period of crops in large geographical regions.
