Effects of incorporation of plant materials on soil pH during short-term incubation

By mixing tea powder,rice straw powder and soybean leaf powder into low-pH red soil,near-neutral-pH yellow brown soil and high-pH salt soil,the changes of soil pH were explored.After 14 d incubation with tea powder and rice straw powder red soil and salt soil showed a slight decrease in the pH value,while yellow brown soil remained the original pH value.On the contrary,after incubation with soybean leaf powder the pH value of red soil and yellow brown soil significantly increased,while the pH value of salt soil reduced.
