FORMATION.OF LARGE PANICLE IN RICEⅠ.VARIETAL DIFFERENCES OF DIFFERENTIATED SPIKELETNUMBER PER PANICLE AND ITS RELATIONS WITH OTHER PANICLE CHARACTERISTICS

rice varicties including indica,japonica and hybrid indlca were used in observing the dif-ferentiated spikelet and other characteristies in field in 1989~1990.Results showed that varietal differcncein differentiated spikelets per panicle(DSPP)was significant,ranging from 126 to 437.DSPP was mainlycomposed of differentiated spikclets on secondery branch(DSSB)in any variety observed.Differentiatedsoikelets on primary branch(DSPB)and DSSB were ma inly subjected to the number of differentiated pri-mary and secondery branches,respcetively.In different variety,differentiated secondery secondery branches on oneprimary branch and diffcrcntiatcd sccondcry branch wcrc mai nly su…cctcd to thc numbcr of primarybranch of the variety,It was concluded that DSPP was essentially determined by its d ifferentiated primarybranch number in different variety.
