Review of Microarc Oxidation Technique on Surface of Non-ferrous Metals

Microarc oxidation is a new technique,which can in situ form the ceramic coatings on the surfaces of some non ferrous metals.In this article,the development history of microarc oxidation technique on Al,Mg,Ti metals was introduced,and its principle for growths of ceramic coatings of oxides was simply described.Furthermore,the process and coatings properties of microarc oxidation were compared with those of anodic oxidation.The process of microarc oxidation is much simpler than that of anodic oxidation,but comprehensive properties of its coatings are higher than those of anodic oxidation.So its wide applications are expected in many fields.
