Microstructures and Properties of Mg-Al-Zn Wrought Alloys in As-rolling and Annealing States

The properties and microstructures of Mg-Al-Zn alloys AZ31 and AZ61 were studied.Such two kinds of experimental alloys were hot rolled,then annealed at different temperatures.Recrystallization behaviors of the alloys were investigated through microstructures observing and hardness measuring.The tensile properties of alloys at hot rolling and annealing states were measured.The fracture morphologies of tensile specimens were observed by using SEM.The results show that the cast billets were suitable for rolling after homogenizing at 723K for 8~10h,and the rolled plates were completely recrystallizated by annealing at 573K for 1h.The tensile strengths of AZ31 and AZ61 alloys are 270 6MPa and 260 3MPa respectively.The alloys occur ductile fracture after annealing.
