Key Technologies for Design of Super-large Rectangular Pipe Jacking Machine

Study is made on the following key technologies for the design of a super-large rectangular pipe jacking machine( 10. 12 m × 7. 27 m) : 1) study and selection of excavation modes of rectangular cross-section tunnels; 2)study on the strength and rigidity of the super-wide,rectangular and thin shell of the pipe jacking machine; 3) study on the integrated electro-hydraulic proportional control of the thrust system of the pipe jacking machine; 4) study on the soil conditioning of the rectangular tunnel. The results of the studies on afore-mentioned technologies have been successfully applied on a super-large rectangular pipe jacking machine,which will provide an economic,safe and rapid solution for the construction of rectangular tunnels in urban areas.
