Research on LOD Technology to Create Large-scale Scenes Based on Creator

Level of detail(LOD) technology is used to simplify the polygon,its purpose is to extract a series of simplified models that reflect the most important features from the primitive model and reduce the complexity of scenes,realize real-time rendering.This paper provide methods of generating LOD models from two aspects of terrain and features,put forward the principles for modeling the detailed levels of buildings,compare Polymesh with Delaunay algorithm of generating terrain LOD by experiment,give the advantages and disadvantages of the two algorithms,improve the accuracy of Polymesh through Irregular Mesh algorithm,set terrain accuracy tolerance to control the number of polygons under Delaunay algorithm of generating terrain LOD.
