MICROSTRUCTURE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF MECHANICALLY ALLOYED NiAl-TiC COMPOSITE

Microstructure and mechanical properties of mechanically alloyed NiAl-TiC composite have been investigated. The results show reinforced TiC particle is bimodally distributed. Microstructure and microhardness of NiAl-TiC composite have no significant change after annealed at 1000℃ for a long time.The strength of NiAl-TiC composite is higher than these of and extruded NiAl as well as XD NiAl-TiB 2 composite. Yield stresses at both RT and high temperature drop obviously after HIP. Strength at high temperature is dependant on strain rate,and deformation is controlled by diffusion mechanism.
