Improvement and comparison of methods in designing water-using network with multiple contaminants

An improved superstructure model of water-using synthesis(WNS)with multiple contaminants has been established by in- troducing assignment coefficients and the minimum limited process flow rate in the paper,which is not only simplified but also easy to be converged.Then the improved model is used as a rule to sort water-using processes in step by step linear programming(step-LP) method of WNS.An example of WNS has been illustrated,which is solved by the original and improved methods,the comparative re- sults are obtained,and which show the improvements for both methods are effective and efficient,and can be used to solve WNS prob- lems rightly and quickly.
