Simultaneous determination of aromatic compounds based on fluorescence spectroscopy combined with second-order calibration

It is difficult to directly quantitative detection of several aromatic compounds such as catechol and hydroquinone by a conventional method due to the spectral overlap originated from very similar structures.The Chromatography involves in complex operation and need long analysis time.By using a combination of second-order calibration method called parallel factor analysis(PARAFAC) and three-dimensional fluorescence spectrum,it is able realize a mathematical separation instead of chemical separation so that four components,i.e.,catechol,hydroquinone,indole and tyrosine,can be simultaneously determined.The number of components was optimized by the core consistency diagnostic method and the excitation and emission spectra of each component was obtained.The experimental results show that this method can be used to simultaneously analysis several aromatic compounds with unknown disturbances and can be used in the direct quantitative determination of environmental samples.
