Image Reconstruction from Unorganized Range Data Based on Laser Scanner Aided Stereo Photography

A simple method for acquisition of a cloud of points from an object surface is presented together with a novel surface reconstruction algorithm to obtain an explicit 3D model for the measured object.In the experiment,laser scanner and CCD camera are used,considering that the former is of good coherence and directionality and the latter is of high resolution and capable of obtaining images from various angles.Another advantage of CCD photography is that it enhances the accuracy of image registration.It is shown by the experiment results that the measurement methods we used is of efficiency and high precision,and hence can be applied in the measurement of random datasets prior to 3D resolution.
