THE CELLULAR MORPHOLOGY AND RADIOSENSITIVITY OF COLONIES FORMED IN THE AGAR CULTURE OF MOUSE BONE MARROW GM-CFC

There are 5 types of cellular morphology of colonies in agar culture of mouse gra-nulocyte macrophage progenitors(GM-CFC).They are compact colony of granulocytes,loose colony of granulocytes or macrophages and mixed colony with granulocyte centresurrounded by granulocytes or macrophages.The proportion of compact colonies reduced inculture of longer duration,while that of macrophage colonies increased.This means thatthe macrophages are produced by transformation of the compact colonies.They have different radiosensitivities.The D_0 of compact colony of granulocytes is60.2 rads and that of macrophages is 226.6 rads.
