Topology and sizing optimization of the front and rear supporters of the concrete mixer truck

The front and rear supporters are two key components that bear the main loads of the concrete mixer truck.By means of the FEM analysis,it is found that the supporters designed based on the traditional concepts are over stiff and excessively heavy,which not only reduce the effective loads of the mixer but also increase the manufacture cost.The paper concerns on the weight reduction of the supports,and the topology and sizing optimization are performed.After optimization,the supporters are redesigned with the weight reduction ratio 26.3% for the front supporter and 18.5% for the rear supporter.Meanwhile the FEM analysis of the new structures show that two supporters satisfy all the strength requires under all load cases.
