Research of Spot Center Location Algorithm for Four Quadrant Detector

As the precision of the Four Quadrant Detector(QPD) orientation system was greatly influenced by the characteristics of the laser spot and location algorithm used,the paper analyzed the characteristics of the laser spot,the theoretical basis of QPD and the common algorithm.The laser spot center location algorithms of five different cases were studied.Through numerical integration based on the five cases,the article proposed the center location algorithm based on elliptic shape,Gaussian laser spot,and made a compare of the theory spot and actual spot after curve fitting.Self-designed orientation system was used for experiment,the results demonstrated that the theoretical analyses were correct.
