Analysis and improvement of the universal power theory based on periodic function space

The power theory based on periodic function space is introduced.The analysis, which shows that the power theory has defect when phase-voltages have zero-sequence component, is performed.In order to improve the applicability of the power theory, a function in n-dimensions periodic function space is defined in this paper based on which an improvement of the power theory is made.The improved power theory not only can explain the power phenomena when phase-voltages have zero-sequence component but also make the reference point for phase voltage measurement choose arbitrarily.As a result, the power theory can be used in practice more conveniently.The improved power theory is proved to be agreed with traditional power theory.The analysis in three-phase four-wire system also shows that the reference point of voltage can be chosen freely and has no influence on the results.
