Productive Technology of Iron Oxide-Mica Pearlescent Pigment by Metal Organic Chemistry Vapour Deposition(MOCVD)

Iron oxide-mica pearlescent pigment was prepared from Fe(CO) 5 in a spout fluidized reactor using metal organic chemistry vapour deposition(MOCVD)technique.Brown pearlescent pigment was prepared at 250 ℃ in oxygen flow of 3 mL·s -1 and deposition time of 5 minutes.At higher temperature and longer time,red brown,golden red and orange red pigments were made.Brightness value L *,red value a * and yellow value b * were tested with Gretag Macbeth Color-Eye 7000A.Surface components were measured by X ray diffraction.Coating ratio was calculated by acidometric titration.Influences of temperature,time and oxygen flow on surface ingredient and pearlescent effect of the pigment were discussed.
