A Study on Forest Soil Respiration in Chinese Fir Plantation

The dynamics of CO_2 evolution of soil respiration in a 20-year Chinese fir plantation forest was measured by CID-301PS. The results showed: there were very significant annual and daily changing patterns of the forest soil respiration compared with a secondary evergreen broadleaved forest. Their manifestations were: the Chinese fir soil respiration became stronger and stronger from January to July,and became weaker and weaker from Augest to December. The Chinese fir soil respiration was 1.466 μmol/(m~2·s) in July,which was the maximal vaule of the year.The daily soil respiration showed a crest every day, it appeared in the period from 16 o'clock to 18 o'clock. The soil respiration was correlated with the temperature of the soil at the depth of 5 cm,but negatively correlated with CO_2 content .Based on the quantitative relationship established between their respiration rate and temperature, the annual release of CO_2 from Chinese fir plantation soil was 10.517 t/(hm~2·a).
