Correlation of Panicle with Flag Leaf related Traits in Jiangxi Late-Season Indica Super Rice

Two Jiangxi typical indica super rice cultivars Ganxin 688 and Wufengyou T025 were used as the experimental materials and Shanyou 46 as the control.The characteristics of the main panicle and flag leaf were measured in field trials.The results showed that the primary branch number,secondary branch number,grain number per ear and flag leaf width in Ganxin 688 and Wufengyou T025 were significantly higher than those of the control cultivar,but Ganxin 688 and Wufengyou T025 showed lower 1,000-grain weight,flag leaf length and area than the control,showing that Ganxin 688 and Wufengyou T025 had advantages in the branch number compared with Shanyou 46.In other words,the enhancement of branch number and grain number was the major means for yield increase for the two cultivars of late season indica super rice.Correlation analysis showed that,the primary branch number showed a positive correlation with the secondary branch number,the branch number showed a negative correlation with the flag leaf length and flag leaf area,the flag leaf width showed a negative correlation with the flag leaf length,flag leaf area and panicle number,but positive correlation with the branch number.This indicated that there was contradictory between the branch number and leaf length and leaf area,but the contradictory could be mitigated by the leaf width.
