Present Situation of Rice Quality in Jiangxi and Countermeasure for Accelerating Development of High Quality Rice

On the basis of the quality indexes being related to varietal characteristics in the national criteria GB/T17891-1999 "High Quality Rice", none of main cultivated hybrid rice varieties (combinations) in Jiangxi reaches the national criteria, for their gel consistency, chalky degree and chalky rate are not qualified. Among main cultivated conventional rice varieties, only one early rice variety ("Xiangzaoxian 31") and two late rice variety ("Ganwanxian 30" and "Ganwanxian 19") reach Ⅲ,Ⅲ and Ⅱ grade of the national criteria respectively, but none of them reaches Ⅰ grade due to higher or lower amylose content. Therefore, the author put forward the following countermeasure for accelerating the development of high quality rice in Jiangxi province: constructing the base of high quality rice production, bringing the role of handlebar enterprise into play and carrying out superior cultural practices.
