Comparative Studies on Stomatal Characters of Coconut Leaves among 5 Varieties

The stomatal characters of coconut leaves among five varieties were comparatively studied with nail polish and paraffin section methods.The results show that the stomata is tetracytic with four subsidiary cells,in which two are terminals and other two are laterals.There are significant differences in density,length and width of stomata among five varieties.The variety "Xiaohuangye" has the most and widest stomata,while "Hainan Tall" has the longest stomata.However,it is still needed further discussion that coconut stomatal characters could be or not the appraisal index of resistance.
