Study on Relationship between Appearance Quality and Tar Yield of Flue-cured Tobacco Leaf

For the purpose of studying the difference in tar yield based on the appearance quality of flue-cured tobacco,forty flue-cured tobacco samples were selected from main tobacco- planting areas in China. The appearance qualities of these samples were evaluated by GB / T 2635─1992,and their tar yields were analyzed by ANOVA method based on different areas,genotypes and plant parts. The results showed that the tar yield differences were significantly influenced by the part of tobacco leaf on tobacco plants. The difference in tar yield was not significant among genotypes and areas. The body of flue-cured tobacco leaf influenced the tar yield significantly,but the influences of other appearance quality indexes were limited under the condition of the same part. The tar yield revealed a rising trend along with the deepening of color,and the increase in body and chroma of flue-cured tobacco leaves( especially for the body and chroma of middle-part leaves). Thus,such parameters of appearance quality could be used to select the proper raw materials in cigarette production process.
