STATIC ANALYSIS OF CONTINUOUS CABLE SLIDING AT THE MIDDLE SUPPORTING

On the basis of nonlinear geometric relation between strain and displacement for flexible cable,the equilibrium equation under self-weight and influence of temperature,an analytical solution of displacement and tension for every point defined in Eulerian coordinate system is obtained accurately.To solve the nonlinear algebraic equation caused by continuous cable with sliding,the modified Powell hybrid algorithm with high precision routine DNEQNE of Fortran can be used directly.For example,a two-span continuous cable sliding at the middle sipporting has been calculated when the self weight of cable for two span is equal or not,specially when the two spans are perfectly equal.These problems are compared and analyzed with various methods by other scholars.
