Proteetive Effect of Anisodamine on the Injury of Renal Ischemia and Reperfusion

The Protective effect of anisodamine(654—2) on the injury of renal ischemia and reperfusion has been studied in rabbits. The function and ultrastructure of the kidneys were severely damaged after renal ischemia for 60 min followed by 24h reperfusion. When 654—2 was injected intravenously 60 rain before the start of bilateral renal pedicle Clamping,the renal functional and ultrastructrual damages were significantly alleviated. Isehemia plus reflow resulted in a significant increase of lipid peroxide (LPO) content in renal vein. In 654—2 treated animal the LPO increase was prevented. These results suggest that 654—2 has protective effect on renal isehemia and reperfusion damage and its mechanism is partly related to the reduction of free radical—mediated lipid peroxidation.
