KAP Survey on STD/AIDS among MSM Students in Universities in Nanchang City

Objective To investigate the knowledge,attitudes and practice(KAP) about STD/AIDS among MSM college students in Nanchang city.Methods After getting the target population through snowball sampling,a questionnaire survey about STD/AIDS was conducted by trained medical professionals.Results Among the 78 MSM college students,94.9% had heard of AIDS and 78.2% had got the AIDS brochure.The average awareness rate was 62.2%,and 26.9% of the 78 MSM college students said that they might be infected with HIV in the future.In the last 6 months,84.6% of respondents had anal sex,but the condom use rate was only 20.5% when sex occurred.Moreover,24.4% of them had heterosexual sex partners,and only 25% used condom when having sex.Conclusion The condom usage among MSM college students is not high,and most of them have multiple sex partners.They get AIDS-related knowledge mainly from the network,and seldom receive voluntary counseling and testing.The role of network should be fully exploited to increase the intervention for HIV prevention among MSM college students.
