Reinforced concrete has high bearing capacity and good mechanical properties, and steel and concrete have approximately the same expansion coefficient. It does not cause excessive stress due to different environments. The concrete and steel bars can work together mainly rely on sufficient adhesion between concrete and steel. In order to make the steel have better and lasting performance, a protective layer of steel is needed. The test shows that the thickness of the protective layer of the steel is the main factor affecting the bond strength between the steel and the concrete. Therefore, for reinforced concrete, the protective layer of steel is particularly important.
