Comparison between quicklime and slaked lime in improving argillaceous siltstone

Undefined compression strength tests were designed to study the relationship between the soil strength and addition ratio of quicklime or slaked lime.The effect differences between the quicklime and slaked lime were determined through modification mechanism and reaction equation.The result shows that the maximum dry density,optimum water content and unconfined compression strength of the quicklime is higher than that of slaked lime in the same ratio,while the maximum unconfined compression strength of the two improved soils is roughly the same.
