Experimental Investigation of the Complete Stress-Strain Curve of Concrete

A simple and effective experimental method, in which a general hydraulic test machine with a couple of jacks are utilized to measure the complete stress-strain curve of concrete under monotonic and cyclic loading, is introduced in this paper. Several factors that influence the behaviours of deformation and cracking of concrete have been considered in the testing programme. From the result of the tests, the relationship between the shape of the complete stress-strain curves and the failure modes are discussed, and the formula of the complete stress-strain curve with the necessary parameters are suggested for various kinds of concrete.
