Double Extended Substructure Finite Element (Finite Layer) Method for Analyzing Three-Diamensional Problems of Interaction between Multi-Story Space Shear Wall Structures and Foundations

Zai Jinmin,Nanjing Institute of Building Construction
This paper presents the result of the study of interaction between multi-story space shear wall structure and foundations. The space shear wall structure is analysed by using the double extended substructure ( finite element) method, and the layered isotropic foundation soil with bilinear deformation property by the finite layer method formerly developed by the writers, This paper offers the general method and programs for analyzing the interaction of multi-story space shear wall structure and foundations, so that it can be calculated by medium-size computers with a memory capacity of 32k without any external equipment. This proposed method has been applied to a typical tall building in Shanghai. In order to study the mechanism of structure-soil interaction, the contribution of the superstructure to foundation stiffness, variation of stress in structure and box foundation, a lot of comparison of the computed and measured results have been studied.Preliminary studies concerning the effects of soil anisotropy have also been examined.
