A Method of Analysis for the Interaction of Frame Structure, Foundation and Soil with Consideration of Brick Infilled Walls

When frame structure is infilled with brick walls, its stiffness is much larger than that of the frame without infilled walls, On the other hand, the stiffness of brick infilled walls will decrease greatly due to the cracks occured under normal working loads. An approximate analysis for the interaction of frame structure, foundation and soil with consideration of the brick infilled walls and the above mentioned characteristics is presented. Comparison of the results of this analysis with those obtained from the conventional interactive analysis without the infilled walls is given in this paper. It is worth mentioning that the results of the method presented in this paper show reasonable agreement with those obtained from the analysis using the measured reaction forces(con-tact pressure ) .
