Design of base isolated structure of Suqian City Gymnasium

Suqian City Gymnasium is a reinforced concrete spatial frame structure with a steel spatial grid roof located in a region of high earthquake intensity. It occupies 4500 seats and an area of about 13000m2. The isolation layer consists of laminated rubber bearings and viscous dampers. Calculation results of the nonlinear space model time history analysis by SAP2000N software show that the horizontal earthquake action upon the super structure can be greatly reduced by using base isolation technique,as the viscous dampers can effectively restrict the displacement of isolation layer and meanwhile reduce the earthquake action. The base isolation technique used in this project demonstrates obvious technical and economic benefit.
