Initial Exploration of the Performance-based Fire Protection Design for Building with Large Atrium

Wang Wei, Zhang Heping, Xu Liang, Yang Yun  
The appearance of large-scale complex building, especially the building with large atrium, brings lots of new problems on fire safety, which the existing building fire pro- tection code fails to resolve. In light of analyzing living ex- ample of project, this paper advocates method of òperfor- mance-basedó design, and proposes a conception of òsub- safety areaó, which could be a new approach for dealing with this kind of problem.
