Analysis of stress distribution of implant-tooth-supported fixed bridge for different pontic lengths

Objective This study is to reveal the stress distribution of the fixed bridge supported by tooth and implant for different pontic lengths.Methods By the 3-dimensional finite element,the biomechanical models of the fixed bridge supported by the implant-natural tooth with 3-kind of pontic length were constructed,calculated and analysed.Results The biggest stress was on the neck area of abutments and the bones around them.The biggest stress under the lateral load was more than 2-times bigger than that under vertical load.The larger of the pontic length is the bigger of the stress.Conclusion The main supporting force position is on the neck area,so the oblique force should be reduced and pontic length should not be too long.
