The niche of Tetrigus lewisi, a predaceous natural enemy of Monochamus alternatus

Field investigation and laboratory study show that Tetrigus lewisi Candèze is one of predaceous natural enemies of Monochamus alternatus Hope. It can eat at most 17 individuals of M. alternatus in 4 months under laboratory conditions. The click beetle can also eat larvae of Shirahoshizo insisiosus (Voss) and Asemum amuren Kraatz. These elaters population density in weak Pinus massoniana was 3～4 larvae per tree. And they live concentratedly in 0～3 m height stems of hosts. According to the study of niche, the population niche width of Tetrigus lewisi was equivalent to the niche width of M. alternatus. Furthermore, the niche overlap and proportional similarity of niche between the two species were both big.
