Recent Development on Artemisinin Determination in Artemisia annua L.

Objective:To review the quantification methods of antimalaria drug artemisinin.Methods:The related international and Chinese literatures for arternisinin quantification were analyzed and summarized.Results:On the basis of its chemical and physical characteristics,the analytical methods on artemisinin were developed from qualitative spectrum methods to quantitative chromatographic ones.Some more sensitive methods such as electrochemical and enzyme-linked immunosorbnent assay have been developed in recent years.Conclusion:It is important to determine artemisinin content for artemisinin production and pharmaceutical research.
