The Treatment of Wastewater Containing Cr~(6+) Through Electroanalysis-deoxidization

The article introduces the method of simulating electro-deoxidization to treat the industrial wastewater which contained Cr6+. We used common ferreous electrode as cathode and anode. By the process of DC, the ferreous anode dissolved and created Fe2+, and the ferrous sulfate in the liquid deoxidizes the Cr6+ to Cr3+; pH increased along with discharge of H+ at cathode . So the Cr3+ and Fe3+ come into chromic hydroxide and ferreous hydroxide, respectively. Simultaneity, the ferreous hydroxide which accelerates the chromium hydroxide to make deposition can be used as coagulation. Under the best experimental condition, the initial concentration of hoxavalent chromium is 600 mg/L or 600 mg/L hereinafter, pH=3, the quantity of FeSO4 is 1.20 g (Fe2+:Cr2O72+=1:1), reactive time is 40 min, exchange electrode cycle is 10min, electrical current consistency is 0.085 A/cm2, as a result effluent's concentration is 0.57 mg/L, and removal rate is 94%. Effluent's concentration achieves the national standard.
